  AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS FOR LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

The CLR has developed audio-visual slide sets for story telling in Marathi and English. These audio-visuals expose young children to the creative use of language and develop reading readiness in the early years. There are several stories in this series and new titles are added periodically.

Some examples :

The Little Mouse and his Cap
A charming tale about a little mouse who becomes completely fearless after he makes himself a new cap.

  Why Mosquitoes Buzz
A West African folk tale about a chain of events that almost prevented the owl from waking up the sun one morning. Was it the mosquitoe's fault?

The Robber and the Good Son
A chinese folk tale about how a poor farmer's son manages to change a robber's mind.

Audio Visual Lending Library Scheme
The Audio-Visual Lending Library Scheme is an ongoing project of the CLR which disseminates the 'Story-Time" series. Slide sets and slide-projectors are loaned to member schools on a daily sign-up basis. Follow-up activity sheets are provided for children. We conduct workshops for teachers in the effective use of the audio-visual medium in the classroom.

Our A.V. library operates only in Pune city. Besides targetting Marathi medium schools and 'balwadis', it is the only CLR project which also reaches out to English medium schools. Several leading schools in Pune are members. For more information on membership procedure, please email us at clr@vsnl.com
